About

Who I am:
I am a pretty normal guy.  I grew up in Central California, graduate from a UC school.  I married my college sweet heart.  I have two kids (1 boy and 1 girl).  I currently live in the greater San Diego Area.  I have a full time job in the IT Field in the Windows/Intel/VMware side.  And most importantly for this site – I have a passion for learning how to grow my money using different areas of the financial markets.  When I’m not working or hanging out with the fam or coaching my kids in their different sports – I am studying different strategies on how to grow my money for the future.

This site is based on all my learning.  And maybe it can help you shorten your learning process.  It is heavily based on technical analysis with a little fundamental analysis on the side.  One thing I have learned along the way is that chart patterns no matter what instrument you look at repeat themselves over and over through the history of time and in my opinion will continue to repeat themselves over time.  As long as human emotion is involved in trading, these patterns/setups should repeat again and again.

What I have To Offer:I have done a lot of research over the years and taken different classes from so called “gurus” I plan to detail what I have learned and maybe you can take what I have on this site and take it and make it your own.  I plan to write different articles and video tutorials on different trading strategies and how to use different trading platforms -and answer other questions that may come up along the way.  The articles are not all my ideas ofcourse – really there is not much new information out there – but I will take what I have learned and put the ideas on this site for you to decide if you want to investigate them more.  And just because its on the site does not mean I condone the idea or trade those specific systems.

Who I am NOT:
I am not a registered financial adviser – so please don’t take anything on this site as a recommendation because it is not one.  I do not have any formal training in finance or business school.  I am not a stock broker.  I do not have any series 7 or any other series licenses.  I have never worked on wall street or for any financial companies.  Any time you invest/trade the open markets there is risk involved – when I trade my money its my risk – when you trade your account its YOUR Risk – please remember that.

Available research data suggests that most day traders are NOT profitable.

In a research paper published in 2014 titled “Do Day Traders Rationally Learn About Their Ability?”, professors from the University of California studied 3.7 billion trades from the Taiwan Stock Exchange between 1992-2006 and found that only 9.81% of day trading volume was generated by predictably profitable traders and that these predictably profitable traders constitute less than 3% of all day traders on an average day.

In a 2005 article published in the Journal of Applied Finance titled “The Profitability of Active Stock Traders” professors at the University of Oxford and the University College Dublin found that out of 1,146 brokerage accounts day trading the U.S. markets between March 8, 2000 and June 13, 2000, only 50% were profitable with an average net profit of $16,619.

In a 2003 article published in the Financial Analysts Journal titled “The Profitability of Day Traders”, professors at the University of Texas found that out of 334 brokerage accounts day trading the U.S. markets between February 1998 and October 1999, only 35% were profitable and only 14% generated profits in excess of than $10,000.

The range of results in these three studies exemplify the challenge of determining a definitive success rate for day traders. At a minimum, these studies indicate at least 50% of aspiring day traders will not be profitable. This reiterates that consistently making money trading stocks is not easy.
